Born and raised in Panamá, began writing songs when he was 16 years old. In 1999, he got a chance to participate on several national productions. His music was broadcast on his country. "Por Qué No La Sacas de Mi Mente", "Traición", "Atrévete", "El Último Llamado" and "No Debes Reclamarme" were the first songs to be released in Panamá, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Ecuador. In 2004 the record label Panamá Music released the album titled La Alianza (Alliance), produced by Januario "Nayo" Crespo, who gathered all the performers from this label, including Makano, who recorded "Te Va Doler", which became a hit in Panamá and was later included on the compilation album La Conquista, released by Universal Music. In late 2006, Panamá Music signed Makano, but the deal became final on May 2007. In June of the same year, the singer, along with his record producer and manager reviewed and selected the songs included on his first official album. They agreed that his music style would be romantic, but also wanted to be agresive with the first single to be released. "Si Tú No Le Dices", produced by DJ Greg, was eventually released and became a hit in Panamá, thanks to the music video recorded there. A few weeks later, two singles were released, "Fuera de Mi Vida" and "Te Amo", a romantic song produced by Fasther. Both songs were accepted by the Panamian audience. Makano performed "Hambriento de Tí" and "Lárgate" at the Carnaval of Panamá, which led to a promotional tour on several Panamanian cities. His album Te Amo was released in United States in November 18, 2008 and peaked at number 29 in the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.
