Miami has always been overflowing with untapped talent all across the city limits. Artists have literally emerged from under the shadows to claim their credibility amongst the streets and eventually the industry. No matter the difficulties or the obstacles, they take on the challenge and have always found a way to continue to push forward the best way, the only way they know how. Within the heart of South Florida, one Miami artist has made a name of himself across those city limits. Chicago born Christopher Smith was raised most of his life in Miami, took to music at an early age. As he reminisces, he can visibly remember the song that changed his perception on music and caused a slight wrinkle in time. That song was by veteran Hip-Hop artist Killah Priest entitled ‘Bible.’ It simultaneously inspired Bars to initially read the Bible as well. Through Killah Priest’s words, inspiration sparked interests in him to begin freestyling in middle school, on the bus to the schoolhouse as well as during lunch breaks, basically anywhere he had a chance to express his lyrics for his classmates and friends to hear.

Later through life as he began to grow, music around him began to grow as well. He began opening his mind to different genres of music, understanding every artist as they deliver their music from a standpoint. Bars became musically influenced by Marvin Gaye’s phenomenal album ‘What’s Going On?’ and its positive take on life through music. He believed the lyrical empowerment of uniting people around a common solid ground. He continues on to credit Outkast and Goodie Mob for their eclectic musical styles and original deliver all amongst the masses. His hypnotic style correlates similarities from the two powerful southern Hip-Hop entities.

Many people in high-positions have even credited and co-signed Bars as a strong motivator ready to take on any endeavor. An executive and A&R from one of Miami’s predominant labels, Slip N Slide, once stated that: ‘Bars cultivated great ideas for promoting and marketing. He is a unique artist who is ready for the game on all levels, at the same time always thinking ahead of his competitors.’ An engineer from the same label even commented that ‘Bars had exceptional work ethics and a humble personality.’ Comedic actor, Tony Rock commented that ‘Many people claim to rap, but Bars possesses real talent.’

Bars is in the prime of his career, whereby there is only one direction he is heading and that is, to the top. He states that the goals he set for himself are all quite simple, ‘Sell records and reach lives.’ His music narrates that of pain, anger, suffering, and pivotal true life experiences. Overall it has that commercial appeal that definitely has the ability to reach the minds of different people who predominantly might be or already have experienced similar. With a unique slogan he has pushed for quite some time now and has printed on many of the promotional shirts he wears on a daily, the slogan states ‘Ask Me to Rap.’ In essence, the message behind that is quite clear and has become a great marketing tool. To him, it basically means, he has the ability to recite lyrics on point and will never back from any challenge, it literally motivates him to better artist as he sharpens his craft track after track, lyric after lyric, bar after bar. It is more than evident that Christopha Bars is on a warpath all on his own, destined to shine against all odds.
